A quote from his website:
"With Once We Ruled the World, Herck launches an impressive series of installations in which human and dinosaur skeletons are intricately interwoven. These sculptures form a visual and conceptual exploration of hubris, evolution, and the weight of history."
Around the end of 2024, we (at XPLab) started on a project in collaboration with Sculpture/mixed media artist Tom Herck. After some brainstorming, we got the idea of creating an AR overlay effect that viewers could activate with their smartphone. The model shown on top of the skeleton is meant to represent the artist, as his face was scanned with an Arctec 3D scanner. Adding custom clothes was a fun challenge, as I got to brush up my weight painting and sculpting skills. Though the lighting is less visually striking in the AR view, I got it to look pretty cool in a Blender render. But alas, things often look better in a still render
